Hoops with Hannah

It's March Madness y'all! Hannah joined in on the fun this year by filling out her very own bracket:

You might be wondering how a one-year-old fills out a bracket. Easy! We ranked her favorite farm/Noah's ark animals and picked the teams based on their mascots using this sophisticated system.

#1 Birds: The girl loves birds, everyone knows this. If the mascot is any type of bird, it beats everything else. In Hannah's world "coo-coo's" rule.

#2 Ducks: Next best thing to a bird, she loves saying "quack quack" and pointing out the duck in "Happy Hippo, Angry Duck"

#3 Bears: Bears are her default animal. If she doesn't know what it is, it's a bear, for example, her dog-shaped chair is named "Bear". Bears are up there.

#4 Dogs: "Doggies" are high on the list as well. She loves her doggie Charlotte, and "Snuggle Puppy" is of course a favorite.

#5 Cats: Cats are next, she points them out in all her books and likes to say "Meow".

#6 Sheep: They're on her radar, but not nearly as much talked about as birds or bears. Her farm set has a sheep and she likes reading "Moo, Baa, La La La".

#7 Alligator: Alligators, since they don't really make a sound, aren't featured much in her books. There is one in "Where's Spot", so she at least knows what they are.

#8 Badger:  Badgers are dead last on her list as I don't think she's ever heard of them. (Should we be teaching her more about badgers?!)

*If a school has a mascot that's some kind of a character that's not an animal, then the animal wins. 

Her pick for the championship game came down to the South Carolina gamecocks vs. the Kansas jayhawks, and she went with the gamecocks since they looked like the friendlier bird out of the two.
