Merry Christmas!

 

We had a white Christmas in Kentucky! We also had an extremely COLD Christmas with temperatures down to -7 degrees Fahrenheit and wind chills at -30. (For my German relatives- that's -21 Celsius and wind chills at -34 Celsius) It was so cold and snowy that the Christmas church services were cancelled. This was particularly disappointing to us as Hannah and Do-Dad were scheduled to do the reading together during the Christmas day service. Nana and Do-Dad surprised us though and came up with a really nice plan B and put together a special Summers Family Christmas Eve Service, complete with a bulletin! There really wasn't much missing from what the service in the church would have been since we had the pianist, music minister, and scripture reader all in the family :) Lucky us, haha! 

The extreme winter weather also derailed the annual Nutcracker ballet trip to Cincinnati, which we rescheduled for earlier in the week before the arctic air and snow hit us. I had to work so Stephen took my place as Hannah's date. They had a great time! Other holiday activities included baking cookies for Santa, taking pictures downtown Versailles at all the holiday cut outs, watching The Grinch and Olaf's Frozen Adventure, and driving around looking at all the pretty Christmas lights. 

Hannah woke up on Christmas morning to.... a Barbie Dreamhouse!!! It's amazing and has lights, music, sound effects for the stove, toilet and shower, and so many fun details. We've had lots of fun playing with it! Other favorite gifts were a thumb piano, lava lip gloss kit, bath bomb making kit, ice cream play-doh set, Harry Potter nightgown, cookbook, and Lego set, and a light-up tracing pad. 

The day after Christmas we went to Frankfort to see what Nana Claus brought ;) Hannah had lots of fun playing with her cousins, especially with Crosley on her new Nintendo Switch! Hannah and Crosley got beautiful wooden jewelry boxes handmade by Do-Dad, and also a big hit- the ginormous Squishmallow pillow/stuffed animals they got from Maw-Maw and Paw-Paw :) It was a great Christmas!
