Beach Week!

We had a wonderful, relaxing beach week in Isle of Palms!! There was a little category 1 hurricane that hit the day before we arrived, but thankfully it did minimal damage and the weather the whole week was gorgeous! We broke up the 9 hour drive quite a bit this time and I think we will do that in the future as well. We got a hotel in Knoxville on the way down and did a nice long layover in Columbia the next day so Hannah could spend some time with her cousins. They had lots of fun at the playground (almost a little too much fun because Hannah got a bloody lip on the zipline!) She's recovered, no worries!

We stayed at a new condo this time and really loved it. We ate at our favorite restaurants- Poe's and Boxcar Betty's multiple times, and aside from a shopping spree at the outlets in Charleston, we spent every waking hour at the beach- building drip castle kingdoms and collecting over 30 conch shells and lots of sand dollars! Hannah was very interested in the sand dollars and we learned a lot about them like which ones were still alive and how to place them gently back in the ocean. We had the best time, just like we always do down there. It really is our favorite place and I love that we go back every year and make more great memories.

On the way back we stopped over in Columbia again for a lunch with Oma and Opa and then we spent the night with friends in Boiling Spring, NC. Hannah had so much fun at the Shelby City Park, riding on the carousel and the train. The drive home was absolutely gorgeous through the NC mountains and beyond with all the fall leaves on full display. We had a great trip and can't wait to go back next year!
