Our children's minister cracked the case of "How in the world do you
make Halloween fun for the kiddos this year while socially
distancing"... so good in fact that Hannah actually preferred this
year's event over last year's pumpkin patch cookout/trick-or-treating
get-together. "The Great Fall Clue Caper" took place in a neighborhood
in Frankfort where about 10 or so families from church live. We had a
list of addresses and a list of 3 Halloween riddles we had to solve. The
answers were coded by number and each of the houses we stopped at had
clues to help us solve the riddles. For example, a sign on the mailbox
or on a pumpkin would say 2=M or 5=A, and then we would fill in those
blanks on our riddle sheet. Hannah had so much fun!! Almost all the
houses had treats for the kids set out on tables or spread out in the
yard in individual baggies so no one had to get close to each other, and
everyone had masks on. Hannah's little pumpkin bucket was FULL by the
end of the Clue Caper! The last stop on the list was where the
children's minister was waiting with a prize for all the kids- a huge
bag of candy, and a cute little photo-op was set up for us to take
pictures. I wasn't sure how Halloween was going to look this year and
it made me kind of sad that Hannah wasn't going to get to dress up with
her friends at school, or go trick-or-treating around my work like we've
done the past few years- but I don't think she will even miss those
things after the Great Fall Clue Caper!
